Electric Scooter NIU NQiX 150

The NIU NQiX 150 is a very interesting electric scooter. The latter is essentially a premium 45 km/h electric scooter, designed mainly for urban riding.

My rating: 9.5/10

Pros

• Very good acceleration — the 2026 model has up to 3.8 kW peak power and NIU claims 0–45 km/h top speed. 
• Removable 72V 28Ah battery, with around 60–70 km WMTC range according to NIU’s current specifications. Charging time approximately 3 hours.
• A second battery is now available on the 2026 model (obviously as an add-on), potentially taking the claimed range to around 110 km. Although this is not advisable since the battery itself weighs 15.4kg on its own.
• ABS + traction control + rear radar/blind-spot detection — unusually good safety equipment for a 45 km/h scooter. 
• USB charging port where one can easily charge the phone.
• Riding modes – E-save/Dynamic/Sport/Custom
• Excellent technology: 5-inch full colour display TFT screen (which is clear even in broad daylight), built-in navigation, Apple Wallet key, NFC key, Bluetooth, GPS tracking and NIU app where one can easily listen to music while cruising. 
• 14-inch wheels, good handling and a comfortable suspension. From the test drive i can ultimately praise its handling, stability, braking and comfort even on poor road surfaces. 
• Good practicality, with roughly 30 litres of storage depending on specification/source. 

The verdict

For purely urban Malta riding, I’d give the NQiX 150 a strong recommendation. It’s light, quiet, quick off the line, technologically impressive and has many safety features one may expect in this category. The NIU makes it more practical and one can easily find the vehicle’s location with one touch of a button.  Available colours in black, white or grey.
