Local Knight Templars have participated in a special mass in the Vatican

On the occasion of the Jubilee year (Pilgrims of Hope) 2025, that has been started last year from the late pope Francis, the Order of the Knight Templars, of the Ordine Civile e Militare Cavalieri del Tempio (OCMCT), has organised a special mass in the Vatican on the 21st October, 2025 as part of its calendar of events.

Several Knight Templars from the Order’s Priories of Malta, France, Israel, Italy & Slovakia have participated during this mass that was led by Mons. Nuccio Cannizzaro; assisted by Patriarch Fr. Cosma as well as other priests of the Order. The mass was held at the chapel of St. John Chrysostom in St. Peter’s Basilica. It was celebrated with Gregorian chants, by a choir from Reggio Calabria.  This special event was organised by the Order’s Grand Master, Prince Nino Aloi, who provided the opportunity to his Knight Templars to re-enter the Vatican after 713 years, whilst giving an example to every Catholic to reflect on a deeper path towards God.

Such event has ended with a formal meeting between the Order’s Priories and knighted members, to finalise the Order’s upcoming events related to the Jubilee year. The event served as a great opportunity of faith, touring inside the Vatican, while observing the glorified Basilica of St. Peter, along with dedicated time for self-reflection and praying.  Interestingly, the Order’s members have entered the Vatican through the Holy Door, which is opened by the Pope once every 25 years, usually during Christmas time. This Holy door will remain open for all pilgrims, who visit the Vatican in this special Catholic Jubilee year 2025.

The mission of the Order of the Pieta’ del Pellicano is primarily to defend the Catholic faith and helping those in need. All Knight Templars are servants of Christ, providing solidarity and fraternity to those that are alone and in need of assistance, whilst manifesting a life of worth living.

The OCMCT Priory was founded in Malta in the year 2020, and since then it has formed and elevated several Knights, Dames, a Chaplain, Novices and Squires.  Anyone who is interested in becoming a Knight Templar or to be a Priory volunteer, can contact Mr. Kevin Taksha Bonanno on ‪+356 99 899 733‬ or visit the Facebook page: Priory of the Knight Templars of Malta of the Pieta’ del Pellicano, for more information on the formal nomination/application process.
