Interview with Dell Henry – Ramona Portelli Blog

“F.R.U.I.T.S.”  (Family Research Uncovers Important Secrets) by Author Dell S. Henry is a riveting and deeply captivating autobiography told in the first-person narrative, offering an unmatched level of intimacy with the author’s ancestry, personal experiences, and friendships.

Mr. Henry was born in 1951 and grew up in East Orange, New Jersey together with five other siblings. He prides himself on his mother’s stringent childrearing, which saw him learn to respect and love everyone at an early age, regardless of their race. Between the years 1956 and 1957, his family nearly perished in an inferno after an aunt who had moved in with them fell asleep, dropping a cigarette onto a mattress after a drinking sprees. As readers will realize, this was just one of those moments where he would narrowly escape death and other horrifying ordeals.

Of reputable praise is his resident City, East Orange, whose rich history comes alive beautifully among the pages.  The author’s connection by lineage to three U.S. Presidents is equally an exciting reveal that lovers of history will be glad to unearth. Intertwined throughout the reading are inspiring stories of family members, neighbors, and friends whose lives stood as memorable to the author.  One will not fail to appreciate how Henry derives lifelong lessons from the stories such as, positivity begets positivity, and life always rewards back with what one has invested in others.

Henry’s autobiography is not an ordinary composition of life events set for motivational purposes. It is a raw and honest exposition that reveals challenges around the African-American community as well as how generations lived in different periods of history. This is an inspiring work that he hopes will bring every reader to research their family’s striking recollections, a practical and deliberate exercise that he acknowledges as an eye-opener.

Successful biographers only need complete knowledge of one topic-themselves. Henry has chosen a perspective that surpasses mere facts and allows the reader to peer into his own heart and soul, as well as the other people he has written about. The numerous recommendations and reviews from other authors prove that “F.R.U.I.T.S.” (Family Research Uncovers Important Time Secrets) by Author Dell S. Henry  has been meticulously researched, and is, therefore, a worthy autobiography that indirectly doubles up as a self-help guidebook.
