Interview with Carolyn Brown Cobbs

Author Carolyn Brown Cobbs grew up poor, but was loved and supported by a community.  She never thought she would be diagnosed in 1997 with a rare cancer, stage 3 that was slowly killing her. Through all her adversities, she learned who God is and her life forever changed.  She suffered a recurrence in 2008 and through this challenge, she was inspired to persevere, completing her master’s degree in psychology and remaining faith focused.  She is married to Bishop A. L. Cobbs, Jr., they have two grown children, a son-in-love, and a grandson.  All the credit goes to God for allowing them to triumph in the midst of trials.

Tell me more about your latest book

Through the pitfalls of life, I found myself writing to inspire not only myself but others.  This book will help people to navigate through hard times.

What was the most challenging aspect of writing this book?

The hardest challenge in writing this book was losing confidence and the ability to write when faced with opposition.

What is your normal procedure to get your books published?

This is my first solo project.  I know writers and solicited their advice.

What kind of research do you do, and how long do you spend researching before beginning a book?

Writing, staying organized, and keeping my thoughts in tact was very important.  A together manuscript made the task easy for my publisher.

How many books have you written so far?

This is my first book.

What’s the best way to market your books?

The best way to market and advertise is through social media, tours, and word of mouth.

What is your work schedule like when you’re writing?

I am a very busy person.  I keep a pen, paper, or my phone near to jot down thoughts to compile at a later time.

What is your advice for aspiring writers?

Share your story and never let others hinder your progress.  Everyone may not be ready for your story but someone needs to hear your story.  If your story can keep someone off the ledge, you are a winner!.

I keep this book on my desk at work as I try to minister to my self by listening to spiritual music along with reading my bible. My mindset is ~ focus on today.
