Dell wanted to share this unique journey with all readers, no matter , what genre they prefer to read, this book covers History, Politics, Civil War, Sports, Crimes, Music, Entertainers, Research, Education, Comedy and Humor, Failure and Success.
What was the most challenging aspect of writing this book?
As a new author, it was challenging to reveal honest personal experiences that included life threatening situations, slavery, deaths, crimes, intimacy, and more.
What is your normal procedure to get your books published?
I had no choice as to how I was going to get my book published because I am not famous, I am not wealthy, I am not a celebrity, and I had no contacts with any Literary Agents who represent well known book publishing companies, so the only option that I had was to join many other authors who also experienced book publishing rejections from the traditional publishing houses, and took the route of being an independent author or “indie” author.
Do you view writing as a kind of spiritual practice?
I have found that writing this autobiography has been an eye opening experience that exposes a person’s emotions, moods, patience, wit, humor, doubts, faiths, hopes, dreams, imagination, honesty, and calm tranquility.
How many books have you written so far?
As I mentioned previously, this is my very first book that I written and the Title is F.R.U.I.T.S. (Family Research Uncovers Important Time Secrets)
What’s the best way to market your books?
I have no experience marketing or promoting a book, and I have to learn just like many other new indie authors. I have found that there are many “Book Guru’s” online who are always ready to gladly take your
money. It is difficult to filter out whom is a legit book marketing source and who1n is a “scam”.
As an “Indie” author it is a difficult challenge to market and promote a
book. The BEST way to market your book is to get honest referrals from people who you know well and can trust.
How hard or easy is it to establish and maintain a career in writing?
I haven’t thought about a career as an author because I only wrote this book and I am still trying to find ways to get my first book promoted and marketed. Those authors who have written many books have the experience, knowledge and success as a professional author, and I admire their well earned feats!
What is your advice for aspiring writers?
My advice to all aspiring writers is to do a LOT of research on writing their first book for their genre, and to make a plan to market and promote their book BEFORE they write one word! Writing the Book is HALF of the WORK and Marketing and Promoting the book is the OTHER HALF. That is my advice!
