Interview with Author Quint Jones

Author Aquintas “Quint” Jones was born and raised in Bridgeport, CT to a single family home. Grew up in a home that was full of domestic violence. This is what motivated her to be the woman she is today. An Author, Certified Life Coach, Domestic Violence Advocate, a Podcast Host and an Evangelist.

Tell me more about your latest book

My latest book “OverComing The Mask: Something Had To Break” is based on my life. I wanted to give survivors of domestic violence a voice. For a long time I wore many faces of shame, hurt, pain, promiscuity, etc. and I covered it all up with a smile. Nobody knew I was dying on the inside because my mask covered it up beautifully. It was important for me to become transparent to let others know they are not alone.

What was the most challenging aspect of writing this book?

The most challenging aspect of writing this book was having to relive the events that took place in my life. Especially in chapter 4 when I spoke of Kevin. He was the love of my life and I lost him. I felt abandoned for a long time. This caused me to turn to drinking to cope daily. While writing the book I literally realized I wasn’t completely over him leaving me and I began to grieve all over again. I put the book down for about 5 months and would not pick it back up. I missed the first deadline of getting the book out in Oct 2020. That is why it came out in March of 2021.

What is your normal procedure to get your books published?

I normally have an editor to edit my book or I will edit it myself and I self-publish. As of now this has worked for me with both of my books, however I am considering a publisher for my 3rd book.

Do you view writing as a kind of spiritual practice?

Wow this is an awesome question. Yes, I do view writing as a spiritual practice. I always want my readers to see themselves as God sees them, even when they make mistakes. I went through a lot in my life and in my journey I had to learn how to truly trust and depend on God. Therefore in everything I write I give spiritual principles by applying scripture and identifying with my readers to show them they have support.

How many books have you written so far?

I have written 2 books so far and I am working on 2 more:

Get Up & Get Out Your Own Way: A Women’s Guide To Self Confidence

OverComing The Mask: Something Had To Break

What’s the best way to market your books?

I am currently marketing my books on social media and I plan to set up a book signing in the near future

How hard or easy is it to establish and maintain a career in writing?

I am a person that wears many hats. Therefore finding a balance and prioritizing my time is very important. There are days I have find the strength to sit down and write because I am exhausted from working other endeavours. However I love writing and I love being able to reach others through my writing so I will continue the journey.

What is your advice for aspiring writers?

My advice for aspiring authors is to follow your heart. Do not get discouraged and don’t allow others to distract you from your dreams. Some will love your writing and some will not but keep writing. Your only failure is quitting. Stay encouraged and Walk in your destiny and purpose.
