Interview with Author Dua Fakhereddin

Author Dua Fakhereddin is Jordanian with Palestinian origins.  She is a wife, mum of two boys, an engineer, a certified project manager, and currently a beauty business owner.

She has always been a successful woman in all aspects, especially in her engineering work where she climbed her career ladder to the top, but that trapped her into a hectic module of an imbalanced lifestyle.

Dua needed a new way of life, a healthy one where she could regain herself, so she persevered to move from the middle to the east.

Tell me more about your latest book

My ebook serves as a cultural guide for others to gain a better understanding of the Middle East, its culture and what it’s like to live in Australia. It can also serve as a guide to educate others from the Middle East to move to Australia.

Besides, it’s helpful for people in Australia, primarily to aid their understanding of my culture. The Australians have a tendency to hold an aversion to anything they consider different, so in that aspect, my book is useful and can be used for education purposes.

What was the most challenging aspect of writing this book?

Writing down some painful memories made me relive the difficult moments I passed through, which was emotionally challenging.

What is your normal procedure to get your books published?

I collaborated with a British publisher (Beauty and the Beast) whose team was a great help in bringing this book to life.

Do you view writing as a kind of spiritual practice?

Absolutely, since it requires a high potential and a continuous focus on the goal of the book.

How many books have you written so far?

This is my first book, but won’t be the last.

What’s the best way to market your books?

Reader’s review and word of mouth are two strong streams, in addition to some book marketing channels.

How hard or easy is it to establish and maintain a career in writing?

It’s a sensitive career that requires a continuous honing for the writing skills so that readers find exciting and compelling content in each book.

What is your advice for aspiring writers?

Go for it, don’t let anything stop you, and believe in yourself.
