Interview with Author M.L. Stark

For the past 10 years, the Danish Author M. L. Stark wanted to write a book about life, from being born to becoming an adult woman. When she moved to United Kingdom, she got the courage to write volume one of the “Burning Desire trilogy: The Psychopath and the Girl in Black Prada Shoes.”

The Danish author is an established woman, who has been married for over 20 years. She has four grown children and several grandchildren. Despite her struggles during her lifespan as she was living in a petrifying mess, she had plenty of courage to help abandoned and rare animals and support children’s causes if needed. During her lifespan she fell victim when she didn’t could see through the love life as she was dating a sociopath, one who swindled himself through life.

The Author herself became a character in a horror movie, when the psychopath began to sink into his mania of deceives, abuse and lies.

Today the author lives a happy life, knowing she achieved the impossible; to write books about being a victim who survived the cruelty of abuse.

Tell me more about your latest book

Burning Desire, Part 1 is the beginning of a trilogy of a heated and dangerous love story that closely depicts a real-life event. The fiction focuses on Mary, a fragile and well-established wealthy woman who was charmed by a charismatic doctor, Drake L. Bates. At first he was inappropriately flirting with her, at his clinic, then it unfolds, to something unexpected. He won her compassion with his enormous intellect and glimmering charm, and something vastly magical happened around him. Mary begins a passionate romance with Drake. Little will she know, she will fall into his deception as Mary gets deeper into the power of the calculating, shady Drake. Their life seemed blissful on the outside, but behind Drake’s malicious plan, it was chilling. Calculating and eagerly he attempts at the early stage to seek financial benefit he could profit from. He preys on Mary as he knows she has a lot of damage on her self-esteem suffering from insecurity, as her lifespan is a petrifying mess. Drake strikes with his vile control into Mary’s vulnerability and emotionally misuses her to the last drop, without any empathy or remorse. The dangerous love story moves forward with Mary struggling as Drake chillingly, psychosocially torments her until she is distressed, abandoned and powerless in her misery! Refusing to leave him, his constant mental abuse led her to the edge of driving her mad and on the edge of suicide.

Drake’s complete lack of self-discipline and respect for obligations, rules, and social norms are immense, and his speech patterns are repeated lies, as he has the flawless ability to bend the facts. It’s always someone else’s fault. That is his best play. This is the beginning of her struggle between good and evil, and a matter of life and death that will alter her life. Trusting Drake was fatal for Mary, as she unwillingly becomes a character in his devious horror movie. Will Mary be able to survive in the hands of a psychopath?

The following books will backtrack Mary’s entire life from her childhood with abuse, to a content marriage, until she ends in a dangerous romantic fairy tale with Drake.

What was the most challenging aspect of writing this book?

For me it’s been an immense challenge to write Burning Desire part 1 and 2, as I wanted the books to be authentic and for the readers to get a decent sense of the intense desire and the dreadful thrilling drama between the antagonist and the protagonist.

I had to rip up in many emotional traumas, backtracking the heated love life with a devious, calculated psychopath who manipulated and ill-used me. It’s a tough thing to do, when you most want to forget everything. It’s horrifying how a person can ruin another person’s life, when you as the victim gets manipulated and ill-used by a devious calculated psychopath, who has no respect for others life.

For me as an author it has been 4 very stressful years to write about a psychopath, as many horrifying memories came back to the me as victim of abuse. To talk to other women about their abuse, was a challenging task to listen to their story, which was comparable to mine. To find the many cruel realities about psychopathic people which exist worldwide.

I didn’t know much of psychopaths but figured out what I could expect from such people. It’s as being a chased Hitchcock character in a horrifying movie. They are that talented and memorise all their lines, so they can win awards for their incredible performances.

What is your normal procedure to get your books published?

All procedures, marketing etc. is handled by Xlibris USA.

Do you view writing as a kind of spiritual practice?

There were too many unanswered questions in my head, so the many years of writing, has finally put the pieces of the puzzle together, about a passionate and dangerous love affair.

I believed it was the ending of a cruel poignant chapter of the past many years of a haunted life with a narcissistic psychopath. But it was not! Because the psychopath continued to be mean, years after the break-up as he continued to harassment me.

Studies have shown that 4 percent of males are psychopath, which means women are victims of such men. In the same study it has shown 1 percent female are psychopath.

I never think I will get the spiritual peace from the predator, but I’m very satisfied I achieved the task to get the narrative on paper and published both books, as the storyline is told as an insight of what to expect from psychopaths. And how the emotions and feelings got a massive crack in my life. It’s not a walk on rose paddles nor floating on a soft pink cloud. It’s catastrophic. I want women to know about life with such predators.

How many books have you written so far?

Burning Desire Part 1 is released.

Burning Desire Fades Part 2 will be released during September 2020.

Book 3 is in writing and I will expect it to be released spring 2021

What’s the best way to market your books?

YouTube Video, radio interview, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, though social media is not that easy as you think to get an audience. Try to reach out to relevant magazines for the topic you write about. Get a marketing team to help you. I did everything via Xlibris Self-publishing in the USA.

How hard or easy is it to establish and maintain a career in writing?

Writing is not a simple task! It’s very challenging.

Fiction cannot live without reality. There is no way around it. The so-called reality will always appear in even the wildest fiction. People who write have nothing to write about, except for what exists in everyday life. There are good reasons to use reality in fiction. In fact, there are no other options.

For me as a writer it was more than difficult to get this all down on paper, because I wanted it to be authentic, even the story is fictional, although it contains ideas based on real events.

As a self-publisher it has been a very expensive journey to advertise, to invest in a book package and to invest in what follows to promote the book.

What is your advice for aspiring writers?

The only wrong thing to say is to say nothing!

Be more critical. Investigate the cost for self-publishing.
