Interview with Author Christina Owens

Author Christina Owens fell in love with reading at the age of 14 years old. While in the 8th grade writing was her outlet and helped her a lot.

As Christina got older, she started to write more and more.  Her first book she ever wrote was a freshman in high school living in Washington DC.  She wrote a 5-book series based off her life and fell in love with writing even more.

Through her high school years, Christina wrote more and loved to write peoples paper in English class. She loved it so much, and was paid to write everyone’s paper. Being a mother of 4, she just want to let her kids know that writing and reading can pay the bills as well.

Tell me more about your latest book

My latest book that I am working on will be out by the end of this month or the beginning of October. This book is a 2-book series and I have fallen in love with this book.

What was the most challenging aspect of writing this book?

The most challenging part of this book was naming the characters and trying to switch up the way I usually write. I want the woman to be more in control this go around. Women can be bosses too!

What is your normal procedure to get your books published?

My normal procedure to writing books is trying to just write when the words come to me. A lot of people try to do 5-10k a day but honestly, I can’t do that. Some days I can write 15k and some days I can only write 200. So, if it’s not flowing, I definitely try not to rush it and let it come back to me.

What motivated you to become an author?

My grandmother. May she rest in peace. She always told me my books would take me far, but I didn’t believe her because of lack of support. When she passed, I had a dream and she told me don’t give up on writing and since then I’ve published 7 books and I’m working on 20+ books.

How many books have you written so far?

So far I have 7 published books

I Fell In Love With The Plug 1-3

I Stole The Plug’s Heart 1&2

For The Love Of A Dirty South Boss Kyle & Chanel 1&2

As an author, do you prefer the traditional book or online version? Why?

I prefer them both. I love the traditional books because my bookshelf has all types of books that I will pick up and read because it’s in front of me. As far as online version I like that one because I can take a book anywhere with me and read while waiting rather it’s in the store or a restaurant.

What is it that really fascinates you and aspires you in a book?

Seeing books make it to the big screen is what really pushed me to keep writing and expanding my genre.

How hard or easy is it to establish and maintain a career in writing?

That’s very easy for me because it could be the cover that speaks to me and I will buy it and write an entire story about it.

What is your advice for aspiring writers?

Never give up. Rather you have little to no support trust me you will make it. I remember when I was hardly making money from my books and now it had tripled and I love it.
