‘Hoes in Da hood’ by Jill Shawntaye Kapri

Hoes In Da Hood by Author Jill Shawntaye Kapri is a book about our society’s reality and possible consequences.  This is her third self published book and is full of suspense.

Author Jill Shawntaye Kapri started writing after losing her father at the age of nine due to gun violence in the hood.  Thus she searched for an escapism from that harsh reality.

Her book Hoes In Da Hood narrates a story of a 20 years old lass who is filled with moral decadence and can do everything to satisfy her wants. It starts with the young lady in a hospital bed, pregnant and dumbfounded. Worst still, she doesn’t even know who the father of her baby is.

Turning more pages from this book, the reader will get to know how and why she doesn’t know the father of her baby. Apparently, her mother was a hoe, but little did she want her daughter to end up like her by having HIV. Neither did Treasure’s aunt, Tina.

With a total of 104 pages, Hoes In Da Hood shows each reader that society is decayed as clearly portrayed in the book.  Also it consists of hypocrisy and love in the same way.

Printed in English language, Hoes In Da Hood is a short story about several women living in an urban apartment complex. All of these women have one agenda and that’s getting in where they fit in. Some hustle for the lifestyle they want while the others are complacent at the bottom where they are at preferring a hand out and using their bodies and babies as a token to score being taken care of. They don’t want to see the next person doing better than them and that’s where the envy, and jealousy come in at.

Anyone reading this book can easily get a life lesson, that hypocrite still exists.  Infact the author tries to bring out this hypocrisy trait of the universe via her character in this book – Treasure to ridicule and correct the ill of the society.  Also whatever we put in the universe is exactly what we will receive back, and to top it all we must love all each other and trust none.

I really recommend this book as it represents our reality of life around us.  I really enjoyed it because it represents a modern day soap opera and this book was filled with so many twist and turns while turning the pages.
