‘A Tree Frog’s Eyes: haiku’ by David E Navarro

‘A Tree Frog’s Eyes: haiku’ by Author David E Navarro is an exciting journey, a detailed adventure through the wondrous world of nature right in the hands of the reader.

This book is a collection of 194 haiku that brings together a plethora of diverse natural, cultural, and geographical influences from Navarro’s life as a wandering poet-philosopher and minister.

Haiku has always been at the core of Navarro’s work. Not only that, haiku is now the most widely recognized, published and popular poetic form in the world.

Finally making up his mind to pull out all the old notes and journals and put together a book that encapsulates 40 years of roaming around as a philosopher-poet and minister was the most challenging task before him. But in his own words, he insists that it was “a joy to put together”.

Because of the nature of haiku, readers can engage in a way that takes them right to the times, places, events, and scenes of human life and nature and gives them an opportunity to finish the event in their minds, and experience it in their imaginations.

With a total of 115 pages, as a bonus, haiku poets will love this book, because the foreword gives a detailed explanation of what haiku is and how it is constructed with the classic elements and essence of haiku which originated in ancient China and more recently in Japan.

Published by NavWorks Press, ‘A Tree Frog’s Eyes: haiku’ is a definitive collection of 194 haiku that brings together a plethora of diverse natural, cultural, and geographical influences from Navarro’s life as a wandering poet-philosopher and minister.

No doubt, this is as great a book for haiku poets wanting to learn more about writing haiku as it is for haiku lovers.

All in all, I enjoyed reading this book. While the underlying essence of his haiku is influenced and inspired by Chinese and Japanese poetry, Navarro’s haiku are thoroughly steeped in modern American nature, culture, geography, and tradition. He brings haiku to life in a way that is relatable and accessible to the modern reader while faithfully maintaining the sharp visual nature of the form.

I surely recommend this book. Be sure to grab your copy of ‘A Tree Frog’s Eyes: haiku’ by David E Navarro today. Available wherever books are sold or you can buy your copy today from https://www.amazon.com/tree-frogs-eyes-haiku-ebook/dp/B089R8M53G
