Interview with Author Gourav Raj Bansal

Gourav Raj is the author of The Epic Chronicles of Landsfor series. So far two books have been published in the series; Book 1; Discoveries and Revelations and Book 2; Quest for the Frozenfire.

He was born in Southampton, Hampshire and currently resides with his wife in Ashford, Middlesex. Raj is an IT consultant by profession and writing is his passion. Other than writing, Raj is a professional property investor. In his spare time, he enjoys reading his favourite authors, watching football, films and TV shows. Raj also tries to make time for gaming, travelling, networking and socialising.

Ramona: Tell me more about your latest book

Gourav Raj Bansal: The story focuses on Dymondo, in his quest to secure the world of Landsfor against his evil brothers. While the plot may seem to appear simple on the surface, there are several twists and turns along the way. Book 1 leaves the readers with a shocking ending. They will want to know what happens next.

Ramona: What was the most challenging aspect of writing this book?

Gourav Raj Bansal: I am still learning the correct methodology and procedure and that maybe editing, proofreading, formatting or marketing. Every aspect is challenging, but the key is never to give up and keep on moving forward and learning.

Ramona: Did you intend to become an author, or do you have a specific reason/s for writing a book?

Gourav Raj Bansal: Since childhood, I have loved writing stories, creating characters and worlds. I enjoy writing. It is a passion.

Ramona: What is your normal procedure to get your books published?

Gourav Raj Bansal: I am a self-published independent author, so I have always taken this route. I am still on my journey and learning from it every day. There is much more for me to learn yet, especially when it comes to marketing, and I must carry on learning. I am confident I will have a set of procedures in place very soon.

Ramona: What motivated you to become an author?

Books: (Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and Narnia)

Films: (Troy, Braveheart and 300)

TV shows: (Mahabharat, Game of Thrones and Spartacus)

Ramona: Do you think someone could be a writer if they don’t feel emotion strongly?

Gourav Raj Bansal: Emotions play a significant part. Your readers should be able to relate to the characters and empathise with them.

Ramona: How hard or easy is it to establish and maintain a career in writing?

Gourav Raj Bansal: Difficult. I am going through the journey at this moment, and it is very tough. But you have to be persistent, positive and most importantly, patient. Have faith in your work.

Ramona: What is your advice for aspiring writers?

Gourav Raj Bansal: Never give up and keep on writing. Keep on reading and continue to be creative. One day you will get there.
