Interview with Jeff Bacon
Jeff Bacon is a writer who was born and raised on a farm near the city of Aberdeen, South Dakota. Now living in Janesville, Wisconsin, Jeff writes in a few different genres including Supernatural Thrillers, Dark Fantasy, and Horror.
In his spare time, Jeff participates in Brazilian Jujitsu and submission wrestling. He also enjoys outdoor sports like kayaking, rock climbing and zip lining, but when he is feeling creative, he loves nothing better than working with a piece of wood and making something unique.
Jeff plans on writing more books in the future. He is currently published in two different anthologies and his first four books in the series The Darkside of Good are scheduled to be released starting November 5th, 2019.
Ramona: Tell me more about your latest book
Jeff Bacon: The Darkside of Good is the self-titled starter of my series. I take a normal military lieutenant and put him into the worst mission ever. He is given a way out of the army and becomes a civilian, but that is wrought with peril as he tries to find his place in the world of Angels, Demons, and some of the worst humans on the planet. Jacob has no idea who he can trust, or what he is being used for, but the action-packed journey to answers will keep you glued to the story right to the end.
Ramona: What was the most challenging aspect of writing this book?
Jeff Bacon: Getting it right, I released this book a year ago, and it just was not right. Originally, I just wanted to publish a book and get it off my bucket list. Well, I found that I love writing and decided to re-write the book and turn it into a series.
Ramona: Do you ever struggle with writer’s block? How do you overcome it?
Jeff Bacon: YES. I take an old typewriter and load it up into paper and type out a short horror story or something that is related to my book. I will also listen to music while I type to keep the flow.
Ramona: What motivated you to become an author?
Jeff Bacon: My kids enjoy the stories I make up and tell them. I want to at the very least leave them something they can show to there kids when they are older.
Ramona: How many books have you written so far?
Book 1: The Darkside of Good.
Book 2: The Darkside of Good: Jacob’s Ladder
Book 3: The Darkside of Good: Resurrections.
Book 4: The Darkside of Good: Uncivil War
Ramona: What are some of your best practices as a writer?
Jeff Bacon: I think my method of outlining and story telling seems to be working for me. I have no idea if it is good enough to be a best practice, but it works for me.
Ramona: What is your advice for aspiring writers?
Jeff Bacon: It takes courage to put yourself out there. Once you do it, life changes, you change, your success is not measured on how well your book sells. It is how happy you are with the end result…Your Book!
