End of Tour by Pete Thron

Author Pete Thron is from United States, and he’s the author of his first published book ‘End of Tour’. I had the privilege to read this book, and I tell you that this book let’s you look behind the curtain.
This book is an action packed non-fiction book that kept me on the edge of my seat, turning one page to another, wanting to know what’s happening. The author brings the story to life and you feel as if your in the street with him. Thron makes you see how the police department doesn’t always have the cops back. And how ruthless the drug gangs were in NYC in the late 80’s and 90’s.
The book covers his early days in the late eighties patrolling the dangerous NYC housing authority projects in Upper Manhattan, while he was in uniform. It was during that time he honed his skills conducting surveillance on the drug gangs on top of the rooftops that surround the housing projects.
Pete had become obsessed with making drug arrest. The only thing that was on his mind was getting into a plainclothes unit to become an undercover narc. By 1991 he was put into a unit ran by the Federal government in Downtown Manhattan, ATF (Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms). He stayed with that unit close to 2 years.
Then in 1993 he went back to his old command thinking he was going to be promoted to detective. Only to be placed back into the plainclothes unit. Later that year a buy and bust operation went south and he found himself back in uniform. In 1995 he was put on trial for offenses he didn’t commit. It was during the time of the Mollen commission. They investigated NYPD cops from Brooklyn and Uptown Manhattan who were dirty. Pete was thrown in the batch with the cops from Manhattans 30th precinct. He was later convicted of non-violent felonies, and served almost 2 years in prison.
For the author himself, the most challenging aspect of writing this book was reliving the events that took place as a police officer and being incarcerated.
‘End of Tour’ has a total of 244 pages and was published by Artemis Publishing Company.
I was hooked from the first paragraph, and I truly recommend this book to anyone who wants to know more about a police officer job and what it entails, as this book is very good about this.
