Magwood is always going, and her writing is as eclectic as her reading tastes, so be on the lookout for more from the pen of D. Magwood.

Ramona: Tell me more about your latest book

D. Magwood: When one falls in love, they hope and pray that that same love is returned and is true to form. That is what Victoria hoped for when she met a strikingly good-looking man named Damien. He was what she was searching and praying for; a good man. A person that would love her like she was all that was needed and more. However, things change dramatically once she finds out that she is pregnant and decides to reveal this happy news to her love, Damien. The happy times and great sex aren’t enough to sway her from digging deeper and revealing the one thing that will make or break their relationship. She now has a decision to make, and it will turn out to be one of the hardest decisions she would ever have to make in her life.

Ramona: What was the most challenging aspect of writing?

D. Magwood: I will say that when I started writing novels, the most challenging part about it was trying to keep up with my characters. I would go back and reread what I just wrote a couple chapters beforehand to remember what I was saying or doing with the characters. I now have this under control. I can create my story line and keep up with my characters very easily.

Ramona: What brought you to write your books?

D. Magwood: Long story short, I started writing to relieve the issues of going through trauma. I began to love reading and I began to love writing. And my writing began to flourish. The more I read, the better I became as a writer. I wanted to venture off into writing something more than just the poetry that I was writing for years. I wanted to challenge myself.

Ramona: How many books have you written so far?

D. Magwood: I have written three novels to date. Down to the Core: When Love Is Not Enough, Lust Knows No Boundaries: Down to the Core 2, Dirty.

Ramona: What book or books have had a strong influence on you or your writing?

D. Magwood: I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, by Maya Angelou. What she went through and the trauma that she faced; she was still able to rise above it and prosper. She is my idol and her writing have and will always inspire me.

Ramona: Writing can be an emotionally draining and stressful pursuit.  Any tips for aspiring writers?

D. Magwood: The best advice I can give is to go with what your mind tells you. When you are woken up at night with ideas, daydreaming about writing, working at your day job and thinking about writing, going to sleep thinking about writing, then WRITE!! Take your time and do not rush the process and embrace the words as they flow through you and out from your fingertips.
