Ramona: What was the most challenging aspect of writing?

K’Anne Meinel: Keeping the storyline consistent.  With four in this series coming out at the same time, I wanted the reader to really feel these women and their stories.

Ramona: What motivated you to become an author?

K’Anne Meinel:I love reading and my favorite authors weren’t releasing their books fast enough for my reading habits.  Then I thought, why not try to write and see if you can do that.  My first book SHIPS was the result of that in 2003.

Ramona: What brought you to write your books?

K’Anne Meinel:These four which are the start of a series have been in my head for a long time.  I was able to combine the various stories I had in mind and trim down my backlog.

Ramona: How many books have you written so far?

K’Anne Meinel:110, this includes shorts, novellas, and novels.

Ramona: What book or books have had a strong influence on you or your writing?

K’Anne Meinel:So many, I’ve read thousands.

Ramona: What is your advice for aspiring writers?

K’Anne Meinel: Read what you love and then write it in your own words, your own ideas, your own stories.  You have to start somewhere, we all do, so just write.  Even if you write crap, crap can be cleaned up.  Make sure you get a good beta reader, not a friend, who can read what you wrote, fill in gaps, and tell you their opinion.  Keep in mind, it’s their opinion.  Then, get a good editor before you even think of publishing.  That way you can present your best work to either a publisher or if you decide to self-publish.
