Ramona: Do you think someone could be a writer if they don’t feel emotions strongly?

Antoine Cannon: I’m not sure, I guess I wouldn’t think so. The trick is to make the reader feel the emotion. That’s hard to do if you don’t really have strong emotions about anything. They should be able to feel the writer’s passion.

Ramona: How long on average does it take you to write a book?

Antoine Cannon: I believe it takes at least three months for me to write a book. My stories aren’t really that long, usually less than 300 pages.

Ramona: You have written several books. What is your latest one that you are working on?

Antoine Cannon: Right now, I’m working on a story about the world’s only black vampire. In the story, for some unknown reason, black people don’t turn. There’s the twist. How did he become a vampire? It’s called Martin Chaos: Out of the Shadows.

Ramona: Can you name all your books one by one?

Yellow Jacket: Genesis

Yellow Jacket: The Price of Freedom

Realms of Palinor: Arc Warrior

Ramona: How did publishing your first book change your process of writing?

Antoine Cannon: It didn’t change the process, it excited me. Because I had actually written and published a book, I wanted to do it again, so I did. I feel a sense of accomplishment with every new book.

Ramona: What is the most difficult part of your artistic process?

Antoine Cannon: Coming up with and writing a story that is coherent and makes sense.

Ramona: In your opinion as an author, what’s the best way to market your books

Antoine Cannon: That, I haven’t really figured out yet. So far for me it’s been word of mouth. But there are a few avenues for marketing that I haven’t tried yet, so I can let you know. (LoL)

Ramona: What kind of research do you do, and how long do you spend researching before beginning a book?

Antoine Cannon: For me, I write what I already know about so research time isn’t heavy. For my fantasy books, everything is made up, so I don’t have to research that much to write them. I think research becomes more important the further you go out of the realm of what you know already.

Ramona: If you could tell your younger writing self anything, what would it be?

Antoine Cannon: I would tell myself that the hardest thing about writing is getting people to read your book.
