Vitimalta or as it is known by its name Organizzazzjoni Produtturi Gheneb Ghall-Inbid (Maltese Islands Grape Producer Organisation) has today established itself as the largest grape producer organisation in the Maltese Islands. Vitimalta has over 300 viticultural farmers members both in Malta and Gozo, who in turn represent about 90% of all Maltese and Gozitan grapes for wine production.
Apart from producing around 90% of grapes for the local wineries, Vitimalta selects a limited tiny fraction of its vineyards yearly and as far back as pruning time in early winter, starts directing its work in these vineyards towards an exceptional low yield superb quality produce. This produce will eventually be processed into the Vitimalta’s own premium quality wine. Vitimalta’s wines are directed towards limited numbers of high end quality wines.
Vitimalta organises and takes part in several activities throughout the year like the Imnarja Fest at Buskett and other similar activities taking place in our islands. During these activities Vitimalta organises wine tasting sessions and has also started organising wine competitions between amateur winemakers.
