Tell me more about your latest book

It is about the little known story of the Roma people,  in writing “Echoes of My Clan- A Gypsy’s Story” it is the story of Carlota, a young gypsy girl with an indomitable spirit who is forced to learn to live outside of her Clan with only her intuition to guide her, during Spanish Civil War and World War II. Her free spirit is reflected and defined in the way she lives her life. She does not accept defeat, and nothing can stop her while she takes life head on. Her passage which savors and captivates her femininity is full of passion, sadness, humor, intrigue, adventure, triumph and love. It also teaches moral character at all levels of the human existence.

Through the publication of “Echoes of My Clan,”I hopes readers will realize that with love of family, respect for elders and compassion for one’s fellow man, everyone will be able to confront anything life gives them.My goal is to spread the word to the millions of Gypsies who died in the work / concentration camps throughout Spain and Europe. Romance, adventure, intrigue, suspense.

I am an adventurous Gypsy narrator turned author. My goal is to give voice to the millions of Gypsies who died in the work / concentration camps throughout Spain and Europe. It inspired me to write this book when I saw a frightening, compelling story of how Gypsies Gypsys / ROM / Rromani,Romani —- were being treated mainly in Europe. Just for being born with their beliefs of freedom. My book is a novel, but this could well be any history of oppressed, discriminated cultures.

My book has managed to clarify many doubts about the feelings and way of thinking of the Gypsies. It captures the experiences and sufferings of my main character Carlota , first as a girl who must live in the world of the non-Gypsies, away from her clan, and then as an adult woman during the terrifying times of the Second World War, including the repressive Era of Franco in Spain.

This book is very special to me… take a walk with a Gypsy.

What was the most challenging aspect of writing this book?

The most challenging, was the research.  There is very little information available recorded during the Franco years. Let’s remember there was maximum censorship, as there is with all dictatorship.

What is your normal procedure to get your books published?

The first edition of my book was done with a vanity publisher- that promised the sky and then some what. It was very expensive, and educating experience,  but in hint sight, it was worth-wild .After of one years time with no results of what had been promised , I ended up I divorcing the vanity publisher. After that adventure, I decided too do a second edition as an Indie Author.

What motivated you to become an author?

Since I was a child, I would tell stories to my friends, then to my children and their friends.  Someone  asked me once  “Why didn’t I write them down.”

How many books have you written so far? List and name them all here

So far only one. But the I plan to release the sequel next year.

ECCHOES OF MY CLAN – A GYPSY’S STORY

As an author, do you prefer the traditional book or online version? Why?

I prefer traditional books, because I just like the smell, and the fell of a book in my hands.

How hard or easy is it to establish and maintain a career in writing?

I feel in today’s world it is very difficult, because the whole industry has changed.  The traditional publishing houses are reviewing less & less manuscripts every year.

What is your advice for aspiring writers?

Never give up, keep writing…The main idea of anyone that writes is to have their voice heard. Let’s believe that even if you can  change someone’s world , it is enough.
